Camo Dog Collars Home

Looking for Cool Camo Dog Collars?

Everyone likes to wear camo today. So does Fido or Rex. They know a dog does not have to be a hunting trained Pointer to enjoy a little camouflage pattern around the neck. Camo dog collars come in all styles. There are even pink camo collars for the ladies in the breed. Okay, so that stretches the boundaries of what is considered camouflage unless you are in a field of foxglove, but they are still stylishly cool. Hunters wear orange for safety, so can their dogs. Orange colored camo patterns are also popular. Of course, the traditional green and desert tan are the best sellers, just like with their human counterparts.

Look for a well woven camo dog collar, even if that means the colors are a bit brighter. Fido can be tough on his neck gear, especially if he is an outdoorsy type of pooch. Many are waterproof and rustproof just for that reason. Adjustable nylon is a good choice for its durability. It also dries out quickly, just in case your hunter dashes through the pond to get that dove you just nailed, or the neighborhood park's fountain chasing a squirrel.

Whatever the breed from Chihuahua to Great Dane, there is are camo dog collars to fit them. Most will run less than $25.00, many are half that price. Style doesn't have to be pricey when it comes to your canine friend. If you want the tough street look, leather collars can also have a splash of camouflage pattern in them. And of course, don't forget the matching leads and leashes. There are even companion harnesses and jackets you can buy.

Most collars are around one inch in height and range from ten inches to almost seventeen inches in circumference. There are a few that go up to twenty inches. So basically, there is one for any size hound you can imagine. SportDog, Remington (yes the ones that make rifles and hunting gear) and InnoTek are popular brands. Wetlands also have high quality collars at reasonable prices.

Like any other collar, make sure you know what size fits your dog to avoid chafing or choking. A good rule of thumb, pardon the pun, is to be able to fit two or three fingers between the collar and the dog's neck. That will guarantee a snug fit without any irritation. To properly measure, use a cloth measuring tape and wrap it around the base of the neck, right above where the shoulders begin. That way, the tags will lie comfortably yet the collar will remain secure enough to not hinder the dog's movements or endanger its safety.

There is no reason you cannot show off your companion in style with camo dog collars. Camouflage is no longer a military thing. It's a pride statement as well as a functional wardrobe for the outdoorsman . . and their best friend. Sure, nature provides camo for our pooches in their fur color, but a little around the collar adds to the effect. Bet you his tail wags just a little more in gratitude.
